The AHS Foundation 2012 Hernia Resident/Fellow Research Grant is open to residents and fellows who have sponsorship from a practicing active member of the AHS. The grant is conferred on a competitive basis by submission of a grant application that is reviewed and evaluated by the AHS Program Committee.

The application must include all of the following:

  • TITLE OF PROJECT
  • ABSTRACT: Maximum 250 words, structured
  • PRINCIPLE INVESTIGATOR:

    • Must be a resident or fellow in good standing at an accredited institution
    • Include name, title, institutional affiliation, and contact information, including email
    • Include name of Sponsoring Mentor, who must be an active AHS member.
  • RESEARCH PLAN: Maximum 5 pages, single-spaced.
    Minimum of 1-inch margins, 11pt font.

    • Include: Specific aims, Background and significance, Preliminary data or studies, Study Design and Methods, Data Analysis, Limitations and Alternatives, and References.
  • STRATEGY OR POTENTIAL TO EXPAND THE PROJECT IN THE FUTURE
    Maximum 250 words.
  • DETAILED BUDGET: See attached form below
  • CV OF PI , SUB-INVESTIGATORS, and SPONSORING MENTOR
  • IRB APPROVAL LETTER: if IRB/RDC/IACUC approval has already been obtained.
